Shahid Kapoor DEFENDS wife Mira Rajput

Comments  Comments [ 8 ]    By Priyanka Chauhan | 16 March 2017 | 3:23pm

Shahid Kapoor stands by his wife Mira Rajput's view on motherhood and feminism, and says she only spoke her mind when she said her child isn't a "puppy" to be left at home.

Shahid says she had no intention to hurt anyone.

Mira had spoken at an event for International Women's Day earlier this month. She had said: "I love being at home, I love being a mother to my child. I wouldn't want to spend one hour a day with my child and rush off to work, why did I have her? She is not a puppy; I want to be there for her as a mother."

This comment earned her the wrath of several working mothers via social media.

Defending Mira, Shahid said at the Nykaa Femina Beauty Awards here on Wednesday night: "She clearly said 'I think we are in a time where everybody is getting hurt about everything', so I honestly don't feel there is any sense in trying to keep everyone happy. I think Mira started the conversation by saying that these are my personal comments."

He said his wife didn't even make a direct comment on anybody or any category of women.

Besides, Shahid says it's their personal choice as a couple that while one of them is working, the other is taking care of their child.

"What Mira is doing for Misha is far more important, far more relevant. I really wish I could, but between the two of us, one has to go to work and I happen to be that person. So, I think she was speaking from a very positive space," he said.

Shahid's next project is Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Padmavati". On Tuesday night, a set of the film in Kolhapur was vandalised and set on fire.

Talking about it, Shahid said it is unfortunate.

"I am not aware of the fact that who has done it and the reason behind it," he added.

"Padmavati" also stars Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. The film is scheduled to release on November 17.

Can some one educate Mira on what International Womens day is about -Who called such a self obsessed egotistical woman who wanted to blow her own trumpet to speak on international women's day?? Seriously what has she accomplished aside from marrying a rich guy. Her comment to liken a child to a puppy was not only insensitive but uncultured & down right rude to the women she was speaking and to all working women. Shaid supporting her shows his level of intelligence & immaturity , no wonder the independent women in the industry dumped him.

its her choice to be at home but she doesn't have any right to comment on working women...honestly she doesn't seem to know how real world function and what is to be an independent women

I kind of find it funny...
I am huge fan of Shahid Kapoor, probably for the kind of character he has been onscreen that too way back 5 years ago. Keeping the fact aside, I still have few points.

    1. Mira is just a graduate. Sorry for being biased. But agreed that was her choice, I respect it, to get married.
    2. She has all the right to hold opinion and express it. Respect that too.
    3. Who the heck were people who invited "Mira" for an event? It was totally their fault to have her speaking at event, knowing she isn't qualified enough to make a comment.

I am really sorry to say. But if you aren't educated enough and married off to some rich personality, you are JUST his wife!! I know I am being rude here... But had she not been his wife or had atleast done one PG such statements would have pinched her. Honestly any Tom, Dick and Harry can get graduated these days, specially with class degree called BA, B. Com, B. Sc. Its piece of cake to be rude. (ps: I am myself a BA graduate and know what i am saying, before anyobe here makes comment on who am I to say it. LOL and the tai who worked in my dept. Was also BA) but yeah coming to the point. Before she passes any comment she needs to know who is she? How experienced is she? And to whom is she referring.

Aishwarya Rai too had decided to stay with her child after her birth. But the maturity with which she had responded to media was respectable. Because Aishwarya is someone... But Mira isn't, and you can see the stark difference between opinion of two ladies there (not fan of Aishwarya). Thats the difference qualitfication, education and EXPERIENCE makes.

So totalling it down. It was still fault of ladies in event who invited her and asked her to speak. Let the girl just enjoy her life yaar ...

Ironic she was invited for an event for international women day and she insulted working women. It might be her opinion but this day is a day for all women, in that event there might be working women but she didnt give a damn. why is she even invited to events? Is she a celebrity. She is a spoilt. Brat with no real life experience. Working women have no choice but to leave their babies to work. She was very insensitive. Keep her out of media

Her statement was clearly putting down working women. Some of these women starting at home thinks they are the best. It's not wrong for women living their work. I wonder what Shahid have said if he actually got married to Kareena who would never stop working and earning her own money.

It's her choice and her opinion... what is wrong with people getting worked up for what she thinks is right for her baby !! So what if she hasn't worked or wants to put her baby above everything else!! Jeez cut her some slack .. it's no race between working or non working moms.. let her do her thing .. those who have to go work ,go work ... no one's doing any favor by either ' being all proffesional ' or ' staying home'.. it's a choice.. move on... and all those working moms getting offended ,, please understand that all of us have ' help' and lots of it ..in order for us to work ..2017-03-16 19:26:59

She spoke like a sheltered and ignorant 23 yr old who hasn't experienced life in the real world.

I ignored the initial article but jeez dude, I know it's your wifey and u need to show support but her comment was stupid to say the least. How the "fish" can she refer to kids who are in day care or have nannies as puppies? Are working moms dogs? There's no excuse for her ignorance. Just let her shut the fish up and take care of her "human!" Silly girl.
