The amount of anticipation and excitement that a sequel or a franchise installment garners is mammoth, and that becomes a reason in almost cent percent success of such films. Over the years, iconic films have been presented, but that's no secret. We present to you some of the most eagerly awaited installments of this year.

Alice Through The Looking Glass

From one of the most adored fairy-tales of all time, Alice in Wonderland was released to mixed reviews but went on to become a blockbuster under Tim Burton's direction. The sequel to it, 'Alice Through The Looking Glass' is set for release this year with the principal cast reprising their respective roles.

Finding Dory

This sequel to 'Finding Nemo' is almost a re-introduction of one of the most loved films ever as the film is arriving after 12 years. The most alluring part was that the characters of Nemo, Martin and the 'Tank Gang' are maintained along with Ellen DeGeneres voicing Dory.

The Divergent Series-Allegiant

Based on one of the most loved novels, Allegiant and the final book of the Divergent trilogy, 'The Divergent Series-Allegiant' is the third installment in the Divergent Series. The sentence can almost work as a tongue twister. It is the continuation of Insurgent and the fans just can't wait for this one.

Kung Fu Panda 3

The adored Panda and his adventures are back with their third installment, 'Kung Fu Panda 3' with the stellar voice cast reprising their roles with one addition which shot extra excitement, Bryan Cranston (Walter White of Breaking Bad)!

Independence Day-Resurgence

One of the most loved disaster films, Independence Day is set to have a sequel after twenty long years, and Roland Emmerich returns to direct it. The fans are surely going to miss Will Smith, however, Liam Hemsworth joins the cast with Jeff Goldblum reprising his role.

X Men: Apocalypse

Captain America: Civil War

Marvell has reached the pinnacle of success with their Avenger series and twelve individual superhero installments. The intended third installment of the Captain America series, and the thirteenth installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe got bigger when it was termed to be the Civil War between Captain America and Iron Man with Robert Downey Jr reprising his role.

Zoolander 2

Termed as the belated sequel to Zoolander and returning after 14 years, the film has certainly got massive in terms of the stature and levels where Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson and Will Ferrell reprise their roles with a huge alluring addition, Penelope Cruz.

Deadpool

Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice

The most eagerly awaited film of the year is this installment which is termed to be the follow-up to 'Man of Steel' and the second installment in the DC Extended Universe. 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' is nothing short of a clash of the titans where Batman and Superman come at loggerheads for the first time on screen. Apart from Ben Affleck playing Batman and Henry Cavil playing Superman, Jesse Eisenberg and Gal Gadot join the forces as Lex Luthor and Wonder Woman respectively.
