Bollywood movie climaxes - no logic allowed!

Movies are considered to be the ultimate portals of escapism. While entering the make-believe realm of cinema, viewers are expected to leave behind the rules and norms of the real world. Often, Bollywood filmmakers go a notch further and assume that the audiences have left their brains too. BollyCurry brings you few of those movies that had viewers raking their brains at the end with nonsensical climaxes.

The leads Parma (Arjun Kapoor) and Zoya (Parineeti Chopra), indulge in a dangerous game of love and hate in a communally charged patriarchal society in rural India. They are forced to go into hiding out of fear of their families who are ruthless, trigger-happy and completely unforgiving. Yet in a moment of utter foolhardiness, Zoya declares her wish to take Parma with her to greet her family on the occasion of Eid. This leads us into the final sequence where both are cornered by goons sent by respective families and then resort to killing each other in a final act of defiance. If only Parma had stood his ground and talked Zoya out of her foolishness!

The intense and bloody climactic face-off between Vijay (Hrithik Roshan) and Kancha (Sanjay Dutt) leaves both heavily battered and bruised. Yet in the following scene, Vijay who is practically skinny when compared to the bulky Kancha, manages to hang him from a tree all by himself. The severity of Vijay's injuries are obvious when he later succumbs to them. So we wonder from where did he gather the superhuman strength to do that final act of revenge. Probably a question not to be pondered upon, since this one has the ever-logical Karan Johar as producer.

Though the movie is about an alien, PK (Aamir Khan) and his stay on earth, the climax set in a news studio focuses on Jaggu's (Anushka Sharma) personal life. Her lover Sarfaraz (Sushant Singh Rajput) had supposedly abandoned her at the altar during their tryst in Belgium. After a phone call to the Pakistani High Commission and then another to Sarfaraz himself in Lahore played out on LIVE national television, the misunderstanding between the lovers are cleared. It is shown that Sarfaraz was waiting to hear from Jaggu all this while as he had no contact details of her with himself. Now the filmmakers forgot one aspect - social media! Yes, imagine a young, fiery journalist like Jaggu without a Twitter handle or a Facebook account. We wonder what stopped Sarfaraz from contacting Jaggu in the first place! 

If you have just stolen USD 50 million worth of diamonds, logically the next step would be to escape from there as fast as you can. But no, the characters in this movie are driven by a deep sense of patriotism and make their way back to the crime scene to perform at a dance competition and win the trophy. The no-logic-allowed train chugs on and it is later revealed that Charlie (Shah Rukh Khan) not only replaced the fake stones in the championship trophy with the stolen diamonds but also hid the fake ones in ice cubes as a diversion. So this can mean only two things - Charlie carries superglue with him wherever he goes and they have a refrigerator with quick ice feature on standby! 

 

The first thing that went Bang Bang during the making of this movie must have been a well written script, probably why the leads Rajveer (Hrithik Roshan) and Harleen (Katrina Kaif) are shown to run from one gunfight to another with the end nowhere in sight. And once the movie ends, the last thing that went Bang Bang might well be the viewers' minds, as there is no way on earth Rajveer would have survived after a fierce gunfight where he actually gets shot in the gut along with an explosion in aircraft in the near vicinity. Apt title for the movie, we must say!
