beautiful veteran Bollywood actress,
Amrita Singh. Born on the 9th
February, 1958 and raised in a Sikh family household, she is the
daughter of Rukhana Sultana and Shavinder Singh. In 1991, Singh tied the
holy knot of marriage with actor Saif Ali
Khan through traditional Islamic rituals and became the 10th Nawab's
wife. Fame and success happen to be just two ordinary words for her when
it comes to family. She decided on quitting her acting
career in 1993 preferring one of the most special phase of a woman,
motherhood. Khan and Singh parted ways in 2004 due to personal
differences.
Singh stepped into Bollywood in 1983 with her debut film
Betaab opposite

Sunny Deol after which she immediately rose to fame. As the 80's went
by, Singh made a name for herself in the film industry with films such
as
Sunny (1984),
Mard (1985),
Saaheb (1985),
Chameli Ki Shaddi (1986),
Naam (1986),
Khudgarz (1987),
Toofan (1989) and many others.

her early years, she was in the limelight for her great chemistry with

Amitabh Bachchan. The
90's arrived with a blast for her in surprise with films like

Veeru Dada (1990),
Pyaar Ka Saaya (1991),

Rang (1993). Along with leads roles, Singh also tried her hand at supporting roles in
Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman (1991) and
Aaina (1993) for which where she won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award.
In 2002, Singh made a comeback in an all new avatar and was seen playing a rather elder character in movies like
Shaheed - 23rd March 1931 , Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007),
Aurangzeb (2013) and the most recent one being
2 States (2014). She also played a vital role in Star Plus' television serial
Kkavyanjail (2005) and bagged herself an award at the Indian Telly Awards for Best Negative Role.
