Happy Birthday Anushka Sharma!

The pretty lass Anushka will turn a year older today, on the 1st of May, as she celebrates her 25th birthday! The beautiful actress was born in an army family to father Col. Ajay Kumar Sharma and mother Ashima Sharma. Her elder brother took the military route as well and works in the merchant navy!

Anushka started her career as a model for the famous designer Wendell Rodricks, at the Lakme Fashion Week. She later starred in a number of commercials for Silk & Shine, Whisper, Nathella Jewelry and Fiat Palio. Her recognition and fame in the modeling world weaved her way to Bollywood and she finally made her debut opposite the megastar Shah Rukh Khan, in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Though her acting skills were critically acclaimed, the movie only did fair business at the B.O. She saw commercial success with her next romcom, Band Baaja Baaraat. From there on out, there was no looking back for this talented girl. She has starred in numerous successful movies including Badmaash Company, Patiala House, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola. Last year, she starred in the Yash Raj Chopra directed, mega romantic saga, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, which  finally fetched her a Filmfare for Best Supporting Actress! Along with this, she has two Stardust awards and two IIFA awards to her credit.

Well not only are her movies are a hit, but numerous songs picturised on her have reached much success as well! "Ainvayi Ainvayi" and "Adha Ishq" from Band Baaja Baaraat rocked the nation with "Ainvayi Ainvayi" reaching cult status amongst the youth! While these songs didn't stop entertaining, another song, "Thug Le" from Ladies vs Ricky Bahl was a rage! "Laung da Lashkara" from Patiala House was another smashing hit! And the last one on our list is the musical piece that everyone crooned after its release "Jiya Re" from Jab Tak Hai Jaan!
