Happy Birthday Deepika Padukone!

January 5^th marked the 27^th birthday of Bollywood actress and model Deepika Padukone. The daughter of renowned badminton player Prakash Padukone, she went against the tide and not only chose an acting career for herself, but also succeeded in creating her own identity in B-town. 

Deepika was even popular in her college days, all thanks to her successes and achievements in ramp competitions held in Bangalore. Soon thereafter, she started her modelling career by being seen for a few Indian brands like Liril, Dabur Lal Powder and Limca. However, her modeling career really took off after she posed for the Kingfisher Swimsuit Calendar in 2006.

Sometime the same year, Padukone made her acting debut with a Kannada film, Aishwarya which turned out to be a blockbuster hit. However, the lass had her eyes set on Bollywood and her wish was rewarded with her Bollywood super-hit debut film Om Shanti Om,opposite none other than Shah Rukh Khan, the Baadshah of Bollywood. For this film, she even earned the Filmfare Best Female Debut award followed by debut awards in various other award functions. The film still remains her biggest commercial success despite doing some great quality films since then. After Om Shanti Om, she appeared in numerous box-office hits like Love Aaj Kal, Housefull and pretty recently Cocktail, for which she received unanimous admiration for her performance.

Deepika is just a few films old but she has always been in the limelight due to her relationship and then a high profile breakup with actor Ranbir Kapoor. Soon after the end of that relationship, she was said to be dating Kingfisher owner Vijay Mallya's only son Siddharth Mallya, but this also ended in a break up in 2012. Currently, she is single according to media reports and concentrating on her releases in 2013 which include Race 2, Chennai Express , Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Ram Leela.
