Happy 70th Birthday Big B!

October 11th marks a very important day in the history of the Indian film industry, well that's how many perceive this day, and why not?! After all, a superstar was born on this very day! Known as the Shehenshah of Bollywood, or in his early years, "the Angry Young Man", Amitabh Bachchan turns 70 this year, thus starting a new chapter in his life.

He started off his career, in 1969, as a voice narrator in Mrinal Sen's Bhuvan Shome and then debuting in his first film, Saat Hindustaani, for which he received the National Film Award for the Best Newcomer. Since then, the actor has come a long way by starring in more than 180 films till date. 

Tasting commercial success with Anand, where he played a supporting role of a doctor who treated and became friends with his patient, played by Rajesh Khanna, Big B earned his first Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. Many films followed which gave him much recognition in the industry; however, it wasn't until he was cast in Prakash Mehra's Zanjeer, where he played Inspector Vijay Khanna, that he rose to fame and earned the name "angry young man." After that, there was no stopping the actor who had instantly captured a place in the hearts of millions!

Being appreciated for any role that he has chosen to play, he starred in many films such as Abhimaan, Namak Haraam, Deewar, Mili, Amar Akbar Anthony, Coolie, Sholay, Don, Satte Pe Satta and the more recent Bhoothnath and Buddah Hoga Tera Baap, and the list just goes on and on!

Winning 3 National awards for best actor and 14 Filmfare awards in various categories, the actor's talent isn't limited to just acting. He has garnered recognition as a playback singer, film producer and even television presenter for the hit game series Kaun Banega Crorepati! He was also honored with a Padma Shri for his contribution to Indian Cinema and later conferred with the Padma Bhushan.

Along with his professional life, Bachchan is also well established in his personal life. He married fellow co-star from many movies Jaya Bhaduri, with whom he has two kids, son Abhishek Bachchan and daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda. Abhishek is married to actress Aishwariya Rai, who recently gave birth to their daughter Aaradhya. Shweta married Nikhil Nanda with whom she has two kids as well! Nothing makes the grandpa happier than these three grandchildren in his life!
