The year 2017-18 witnessed grand weddings of many Bollywood celebrities and we all know how they were trending all over the web. Whether it be Virushka, Deepveer or Nickyanka's wedding, the pictures of their festivities went viral within no time and got all inside deets, from what they wore for their special day to the variety of cuisines served to the guests, to the exotic locations, everything was just a click away!
But have you ever wondered how was it back in the golden era? The era of veteran actors such as
Dilip Kumar,
Amitabh Bachchan,
Dharmendra, and many more; they too had a huge fan base but it wasn't easy back then to get hands on the exclusive pictures of any celebs' wedding. The privileges we enjoy now (all thanks to the Internet and social media), were not there for their fans and they had to wait for many days to see their stars in their wedding attires as 'Man and Wife'.
So, here we bring to you some wedding pictures of our legendary actors:
When
Amitabh Bachchan saw Jaya Bhaduri on the cover of a magazine: If you thought it was the silver screen where the country's most celebrated couple met, you're wrong! He always wanted a woman he thought was a perfect blend of traditionalism and a modern outlook, and he thought Jaya came across exactly like that in the picture. It was June 3, 1979, when both the actors got married. While Amitabh was still struggling to make it big in Bollywood, Jaya was already a successful star.
She was Indian cinema's
'Dream girl', and he was the original
'He-Man' of Bollywood. The yesteryear superstars,
Hema Malini and
Dharmendra, fell in love with each other in the year 1970, on the sets of
Tum Haseen Main Jawan. That time,
Dharmendra was already married to Prakash Kaur and had two sons,
Sunny Deol and
Bobby Deol. But, that did not stop him from falling in love with Hema. At that time, Hema also had turned down several other marriage proposals from actors like
Sanjeev Kumar and
Jeetendra.
Initially, Hema did not reciprocate to
Dharmendra, as at that time she was not keen on getting involved with a married man. But then, love happened and they tied the knot in 1980. Before marriage, they both decided to convert to Islam, since
Dharmendra's first wife, Prakash Kaur, did not want a divorce.
While Bollywood flicks may be bubbling with the emotions of eternal romance, very few real-life celebrity couples can be remembered for lifelong devotion towards their partners. And, one of the most vibrant and beautiful examples of this is the evergreen couple,
Dilip Kumar and
Saira Banu. They have always stayed by each other's side through the thick and thin of the life. And, theirs is a love story that overcame an age difference of 22 years and is still going strong.
So among both the eras (DeepVeer-NickYanka and the Golden Era) which one is your favorite? Comment your views below.
