Who Rocked the Striped Bikini?

It hard to be in perspective, if one doesn't look back into time and see where evolutions begin, and how they reach the stage they do.

We at BollyCurry went down the memory lane (albeit sticking to the very recent years) to explore something new that had burgeoned as a trend, and voila!

The obvious choice to make, appeared in the form of the scintillating bikini clad babes of tinsel town! Indeed, we take this chance to take a look at all those sensuous curvy divas who set the screen smoldering with their mere presence!

The tones and tans have become over the time a favorite flaunt to win over hearts that wont be so easily given to acting skills (or the lack of it more than occasionally!).
In particular, striped bikinis have been a hit, following geometric patterns and polka dots of the 90's.

Here's a glimpse of being sexy in stripes!

The first one on our list is sultry Bong babe Bipasha Basu who showed off her bodacious curves in a tiny two piece stripped bikini with beading to effect, for Dhoom 2 (2006) where she played a double role of a rough and tough cop and a hot Miami beach lass. With a gorgeous sun tan and all the curves set right, Bips sure knew how to put her assets to use!

Second in line is the girl with the expressive eyes Rani Mukherjee. Disbelief and awe crossed over millions of her fans as Rani for the first time in her acting career wore a bikini for her film Dil Bole Haddipa (2009). She played a rustic gaon ki gori who  happens to be an essential tomboy with her loyalties sold out to being a professional cricketer. In between playing Veera (the girl) and Veer (the disguised boy) the dusky light eyed beauty did manage to don the accentuating striped bikini which did wonders showing off all the kilos she had lost for this movie. For a first timer, Rani reminded us of having been among the first to sport an absolute wardrobe of micro minis and daringy baring western wear years ago in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Bikinis were just another step don the line!

Getting Shilpa Shetty (in a cameo) and Priyanka Chopra to sizzle in striped two pieces along the Miami beaches was a sure double blast in KJo's Dostana (2008). Whilst Shilpa shared screen space with the hot hunks John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan in an item number, Piggy Chops played the main lead and got plenty of chances to showcase her perfect figure. The item number "Shut Up and Bounce" surely had people bouncing to the tunes of scintillating Shilpa.

Priyanka on the other hand played the a roommate to pretending gay couple John and Abhishek. Casting the two enviably curvy ladies sure did the trick, with striped bikinis winning the day again!

Last but definitely not the least is the girl who took Bollywood by a storm, with her debut release itself, against King Khan. Deepika Padukone, the once sporty girl cut a niche for herself in the modeling world initially, only to follow suit of many top models and end up in tinsel town! Donning the rainbow colored stripes in her two piece, she danced for a cameo in Billu Barber (2009). "Love mere Hit Hit" beside Sharukh Khan was a hit chartbuster, and a super hit video! Looking svelte and sexy Deepika surely showed us she knows how to sizzle, early on in her days.

Having marveled the bare clad beauties, its time to pay due credits to the respective designers for all the lovely ladies in the mentioned onscreen sequences. While Bipasha Basu's two piece was designed by Anaita Shroff Adajani, Manish Malhotra gave the look for Rani Mukherjee, Shilpa Shetty, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra. Which makes one inadvertently conclude of Manish's fascination with the stripes!

Phew, sure got hot in here not, did it not?! Just in time for the big question - your personal favorite Bikini Babe was...?
