Riding high on success, Riteish is all ready to charm his audience with his upcoming film Ek Villain. In a chat with india-forums.com Riteish Deshmukh speaks about his excitement for Ek Villain, his equation with Sidharth Malhotra and much more.

If Ek Villain is a success, do you think it will eat into the success of Humshakals?

Yeah, for me it's not a good thing. Probably I wouldn't be worried if there was another actor coming in, but this would be like eating into your own thing. But this is a part and parcel of it and you need to consider other parameters as well. I believe both the producers have taken the right decision, sure in the crossfire I will be a little hurt, but I guess as long as its two different genres its fine.

Which one do you think will be better received, Humshakals or Ek Villain?

Better received, by whom is more important.  It's very difficult for me to choose. I would want both the films to be received well, but now that Humshakals has released and having known that it hasn't been received well critically, but the box office numbers show that people do want watch it and have fun. We hope that Ek Villain has content enough to make the critics as well as the people happy.

What was the experience like working with Sidharth Malhotra?

Yeah, I was his punching bag (laughs) he did punch me couple of times. I took it on my chest. I remember there was a scene, in which I was almost dying and he had to punch my chest to revive me, and he kept punching me again and again, Mohit was like hit him hard. I had to pretend I was dead, I thought I would actually be dead by the end of the scene (laughs) But its ok, he is a young actor and it's great to have that kind of energy.

Personally what do you look for box-office success or critical acclaim?

The story, as actors we look for stories. When we choose a film we know, what is it for. Sometimes it's for critical acclaim and sometimes its box office success.

Mohit Suri said that you appeal to the masses, and that's why he thought you are apt for the role of a common man, is this the reason why you think Ek Villain will work for you?

One needs to fit the part. I need to look like a common man. I am glad that Mohit thought of me for the role. He has h done is own reasons, for me it was like I have never done something like that before, so I was like let's do it. I even asked Mohit , 'are you sure' when he cast me for the role. Since I am always perceived as a comic hero, so I am happy there are directors like Mohit who look beyond that.

God forbid, if these other genres don't work in your favour, would you still consider doing them in the future?

I would love to do them again and again, as long as others want to cast me in them (laughs)

We just hope that everything that Riteish Deshmukh does should work in his favour and Ek Villain should be an interesting change for him as well as his fans.
