I would like to rate myself 11 out of 10 – Suresh Menon

Suresh Menon, after making everyone laugh in Krazzy 4 without even speaking a word, is geared up with some of his new forthcoming comedy films. Playing a bell boy and getting confused in everything, the comic man will make us laugh our heart out with his new avatar in his forthcoming comic riot Khalbali. Let’s share some light moments with this great comedian.

Q. Tell us something about Khalbali
A. As the title suggests, it’s Khalbali. There are 30 fine actors like Sunny Deol, Asrani saab, Manoj Joshi, Rajpal Yadav, Shakti Kapoor and so many others in the film. So as the title suggests, it will be a fun-filled film and is going to be a great entertainer.

Q. What about your character in the film?
A. I am playing the character of a bell boy who is working in a hotel where his sister is married to the owner. And in spite of his unexpected deeds people cannot remove him from the hotel because of which all the funny situations take place.

Q. Your expectations with this film after your crazy appearance in Krazzy 4
A. See, both Krazzy 4 and Khalbali are different genres of movies. Khalbali is an out an out comedy while Krazzy 4 was not a comedy film. It had a lovely story and the film has done thankfully very well and marvelously completed 50 days. Expectations are never to be made because it is up to the audience who decides our fate. I would like to leave it entirely to them to come and enjoy because I enjoyed all Suresh Menonthe while portraying my character.

Q. What did make you to accept Khalbali?
A. See, the one thing that I like the most is my character of a bell boy who lives in his own world and is a very funny little fellow.

Q. How was the environment on the sets?
A. I was like mad. The whole environment was full of laughter and our director, Ajay Chandok, like a school principle, would ask everyone to behave well laughingly. But yes, he never shouted at anybody on the sets. He is very cool guy and knows what he wants. We had a good time out there. It was like having blast.

Q. Any interesting incident you can recall that happened on the sets?
A. I think each and every moment was interesting. So it would be difficult for me to pin point anything. It was blast on the sets and I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of moment of it. It was great fun, lovely place, with lovely people and I had a real good time.

Q. According to you, what is the state of comedy in present times?
A. Comedy is getting its due now-a-days and I am sure comedy is going to rule for the next decade. With so much tragedy in life, comedy makes you feel relaxed and makes you laugh your heart out.

Q. On a 1-10 scale how much do you rate yourself as a comedian?
A. Oh! That's very tough. Being humble, I would like to rate myself 11 (laughs). But jokes apart, I would like to rate 5 right now.

Q. Who do you think is the best comedian now?
A. It has to be Johnny Lever, Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav. These three are the best. They are the kings and the rest are just following their footsteps. And of course, Akshay Kumar also is good at comedy but he falls in the genre of a hero and not a comedian.

Q. Who has been your inspiration?
A. My inspiration has always been Mehmood Saab and Charlie Chaplin. They are two great comedians of all time.

Q. Your other projects…
A. Right now I am in Mangalore, shooting for Raj Bharat’s Don't Worry Be Happy. I am also doing Tom Dick & Harry where I play Tom. Then there is 24 Hours Gup Shup Gup Shup and Mumbai Chakachak coming in the rail.
