With September underway, we take a peek at the 9 hottest flicks to look out for this month!

 The Girl in Yellow Boots

Release Date: 2nd September

Star Cast: Kalkli Koechlin, Naseeruddin Shah, Ronit Roy, Prashant Prakash

The Story:

Following her debut with Dev D, Kalki Koechlin returns with another gritty thriller which follows the struggles of Ruth, a Brit who travels to Mumbai in search of her elusive father. There's also a drug addicted boyfriend, a desperate job at a massage parlor and the alien underbelly of Mumbai that stand between our protagonist and her independence.

Why Watch it?

If you're after a larger-than-life romantic production, look away now. The film, co-written by Kalki herself, channels the treatment that a Caucasian woman receives in India whilst exploring the themes of child abuse and drug usage. Shot in a mere 13 days (!) with a liberal use of combined spaces, it has already been welcomed by critics with the warning of an ending you wish you could forget.

 Mere Brother Ki Dulhan

Release Date: 9th September

Star Cast: Imran Khan, Katrina Kaif, Ali Zafar

The Story:

As the title suggests, this romantic comedy produced by Yash Raj follows the story of Khush (Imran Khan) who falls head-over-heels for his brother's bride-to-be, Katrina Kaif, in a grungier look than her fans are used to. Ali Abbas Zafar (not to be confused with Ali Zafar, the brother of Imran in this topsy-turvy love triangle) makes his debut in directing and writing after assisting in successful Yash Raj projects for a number of years.

Why Watch it?

The promos and music for this romantic outing have already caused quite a stir amongst the fans and the expectations are high. Not to mention the casting of popular Pakistani singer Ali Zafar, the much awaited pairing of Kat and Imran, and the promise of a tantalizing guest appearance by John Abraham!

Mausam

Release Date: 16th September

Star Cast: Shahid Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Anupam Kher

The Story:

Mausam charts the evolving attraction of two individuals, a Punjabi boy (Harry played by Shahid Kapoor) and a Kashmiri girl (Aayat played by Sonam Kapoor), who must weather separation and heartbreak to truly understand the true meaning of love and sacrifice in this passionate romance saga which spans four seasons.

Why Watch it?

Other than the ridiculously high expectations, Mausam promises to be the sort of love saga that only truly arrives once a decade. Whether this directorial debut by Pankaj Kapoor can satisfy eager fans, we'll have to wait and watch!

Hum Tum Shabana

Release Date: 23rd September

Star Cast: Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Minnisha Lamba

The Story:

Moving onto more light-hearted tales, Hum Tum Shabana takes another look at love triangles as Tusshar and Shreyas compete to secure the heart of Shabana aka Minissha Lamba.

Why Watch it?

Expectations aren't high but Golmaal fans will look forward to see Tusshar in another comedy role. And this time, he actually has lines!

Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster

Release Date: 23rd September

Star Cast: Jimmy Shergill, Mahie Gill, Randeep Hooda

The Story:

Not much has been revealed about the project but rumors are that this is touted to be a modern day take on Sahib, Biwi Aur Ghulam with Jimmy Shergill playing the husband, Mahie Gill as the wife and Randeep Hooda stepping into the role of the "Ghulam", only this time, he's a gangster who is embroiled in an affair with a very bold Mahie.

Why Watch it?

For those who don't like their romances a little spicier than a bed of roses, Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster promises to have the same depth as its inspiration, but with a modern twist that mature audiences will appreciate

Delhi Safari

Release Date: 23rd September

Star Cast: Govinda, Suniel Shetty, Urmila Matondkar, Boman Irani, Akshaye Khanna

The Story:

Delhi Safari promises to be a heart-warming tale of enmity and friendship as it follows a mishmash group of five animals that travel across India with a simple message for the humans invading their homes.

Why Watch it?

Animated movies are hardly the norm in Bollywood but have been growing in popularity over the years. And with a star-studded cast with a promising story and 3D animation, what's not to love?

Force

Release Date: 30th September

Star Cast: John Abraham, Genelia D'Souza

The Story:

A remake of the Tamil flick, Kaakha Kaakha, Force is an action thriller that follows a dutiful cop (John Abraham) as he chases the capture of a deadly gangster. Genelia D'Souza co-stars as the love interest.

Why Watch it?

At first glance, Force can be dismissed as a pure action flick with more grit than heart.  However those who have seen the trailers will attest to the fact that romance has an equal footing in this flick as director Nishikanth pulls together the unlikely pairing of John Abraham (who adopts a much tougher look) and Genelia.

Soundtrack

Release Date: 30th September

Star Cast: Rajeev Khandelwal, Soha Ali Khan, Mrinalini Sharma

The Story: Soundtrack is a film based on a true story depicts the life of a famed DJ and musician. The gritty, modern drama follows the rise to success of the artist and his encounters with alcohol, drugs and sex during the way. It also portrays his struggle with and subsequent victory over his internal demons and a damaging handicap.

Why Watch it?

This movie is not for the faint of heart due to its themes! However, this offbeat movie is sure to be the talk of the town with it's realistic portrayals, strong content and the inimitable star cast! The edgy movie is said to be a remake of highly successful Hollywood flick It's All Gone Pete Tong. If that doesn't convince you, then we don't know what will!
