Switzerland may have a statue of veteran actress Sridevi

Chandani.. O Meri Chandani.. remember in the 80's every radio station, every nook and corner of our country played this song like an anthem. The popular number was shot in the picturesque locations of Switzerland. Now 29 years later, the song is again creating a buzz and that too for all the right reasons. 

Sridevi Kapoor may now be honored with the resurrection of her statue in Switzerland where this song was shot. In 2016, the statue of Yash Chopra was also made in Interlaken for his contribution in popularizing Switzerland.

One of the sources related to the development of Sridevi's statue has reported,"Many of Chopra's films featured Switzerland as a backdrop and he is credited with boosting the popularity of the Alpine nation among Indian tourists. Now, considering Sridevi's role in promoting tourism here, there is a proposal to honor the actor by having her statue here,"

Chandani was a major blockbuster in 1989 with most of it's song and dance sequences set in the breathtakingly beautiful locations of Switzerland. Swiss alps have been a favorite shooting location in Yash Chopra's films too and that is the reason, Swiss tourism offers Bollywood fans a Bollywood Swiss tour.
