Film: 'Seena'; Director: Basavaraja Bellary; Cast: Tarun, Priyanka, Anthara Reddy, Ramesh Bhat, Sathyajith, Ninasam Aswath, Sharan and Sadhu Kokila; Music: A.T. Ravish; Rating: *

'Seena' encourages gangsterism, violence and killing as long as it helps a section of people. And so one finds the hero going on a killing spree and helping out a few destitute children and claiming that his acts of violence shows his commitment to his departed lover.

What is surprising is that the police and media are nowhere in the picture when violence is being unleashed in the city. It seems to be a highly unbelievable story by debutant director Basavaraja Bellary.

The first half of the film is full of mindless violence and the movie drags continuously. The second half is a trifle better because the heroine has done a decent job.

Bellary has not handled even the comedy sequences properly.

But there are elements in 'Seena' that can be appreciated. Jagadish Waali, the cinematographer of the film shows a lot of promise as he captures some truly fantastic visuals. Debutant music director A.T. Ravish has come out with some great compositions. The song composed on the orphaned children is really touching. The camera work and music are the saving grace of the film.

The story is about the protagonist Seena, who goes on a killing spree in the city for a good cause. He is prepared to do anything for money and even kills his own clients for making a few extra bucks. But he uses all this money to run an orphanage. He kidnaps orphaned children roaming the streets to give them a new lease of life in his own orphanage.

Seena does all these things for his lover Hrudaya, who dies after battling a deadly disease. But before dying, she extracts a promise from Seena that he has to do something for children.

Justice catches up with Seena when he is produced in court. There is a twist when the woman defending him in court secretly is in love with him.

Actor Tarun is good in songs and has tried to do justice to the action sequences. The new girl Priyanka is good, though she could have been more expressive. The other newcomer Anthara Reddy has a small role. Veteran artists Ramesh Bhat and Sathyajith perform their roles with ease.

Camera work and Music composition are better in the film.

'Seena', however, drags on and on, and its unbelievable storyline does it in.
