Ranveer Singh has given out a phenomenal performance as the evil Alauddin Khilji in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus film 'Padmaavat'. His character can be touted as the best he has given till now, but the actor says the best is yet to come and we are more than excited to witness that.

We recently caught up with the man himself while he spoke everything from his shooting phase for this film to the final showdown and of course the reactions. About filming for a character like Khilji, Ranveer expressed, "I had zero expectations. That's only because I think I'm matured and evolved as a person. In Hindi, there's a saying Karam Karo, Phal Ki Chinta Mat Karo (Do your job without expecting/bothering about the outcome) I as a person actually subscribe to this saying. So for me, the process is the prize".

While narrating an incident of how he learned this process of not expecting the outcome, Singh revealed, "I broke my shoulder in Bajirao Mastani and I was shattered. Imagine, I'm a righty and my right hand is not functioning while I was shooting for a period drama film. This was worse because I hadn't shot a single scene with the Talvar yet. Literally, my spirit was broken and I felt borderline depression because of the forced bed rest. I was listening to audiobooks and a motivational speaker taught me that the process is the prize. When you are shooting for a character; exploring and developing the character with your director and filming the scenes with all the nuances, that is the reward, the process in itself is the prize and not the result. I had detached myself from this character after shooting for the film".

Speaking on the reactions from the audience, Ranveer expressed, "When the praise started coming in, I was a bit relieved. I was like I'm playing an antagonist and I don't know how it would be received. No mainstream actor of Hindi Cinema has taken a plunge of playing an antagonist especially for a character like this which has a degree of menace and evilness. It was a huge risk for me; had it gone wrong it could've been my undoing. I don't know where I had been. Moreover, I was excited to play this character and I wanted to play an antagonist at some point of time so said why not do it with Mr. Bhansali".

Ranveer concluded the interview stating, "I felt a major sense of relief after reading the reactions".
