While the first - two parts had
Sanjay Dutt as the main lead, for the third one
Ajay Devgn was said to have replaced him. Reportedly, Dutt opted out from the film as apparently the film is said to be an adult comedy.
Many reports also suggested that
Ajay Devgn has recommended his "
Baadshaho" co-star Ileana D'cruz to the makers to star opposite him in the film.
However, a source has revealed to a leading tabloid that the makers have decided to not cast any heroine opposite Devgn in the film.
"There was no truth to the rumours about Ajay recommending Ileana for Total Dhamaal. It is true that the original script had scope for another actress besides Madhuri. But on second thoughts, the makers felt that it would be interesting to see Ajay without a love interest. If you see Dhamaal and Double Dhamaal, Sanjay Dutt's character too didn't have a leading lady opposite him," added the source.
The source further spoke about the commencement of the shoot, "The team is currently doing a recce in Uttar Pradesh. They will start shooting in Lucknow tentatively on December 15. Ajay's role will be similar to what Dutt has played in the earlier instalments. The role will be adapted keeping in mind Devgn's brooding personality and quirks."
Interestingly, it will be refreshing to see both
Anil Kapoor and
Madhuri Dixit together once again after their last film "Pukar" in 2000.
