Barun Sobti's film receives a STANDING OVATION"

The movie, "Tu Hai Mera Sunday" seems to be sticking to its acronym Sunday perfectly and in celebration mood, after the film had its grand premier at New York Indian Film Festival.

"Tu Hai Mera Sunday" also referred as "You are My Sunday" was the closing film at the festival and to everybody's pleasant surprise, it received a standing ovation at the end. The film was received well by the jury members as well by the audience of New York.



Present at the screening were the cast members, Shahana Goswami, Rasika Dugal, director and writer Milind Dhaimade and producer Varun Shah. But, Barun Sobti was not able to attend the screening.

Also present at the screening were Konkona Sen Sharma and Adil Hussain.

The film has previously traveled to film festivals including the homegrown MAMI 2016 where the film was received with packed audiences.

Internationally the film has won Best Narrative Feature (Audience Choice) at the Cinequest Film Festival in March and also been selected and screened at theOscar-qualifying Nashville Film Festival. It was a moment of pride for the cast and crew of "Tu Hai Mera Sunday" receiving such a great response on a foreign soil.

The film is a a heartwarming Mumbai story of five friends trying to escape the madness of everyday life and their trysts to find happiness and love. Set in the unique backdrop of modern day urban middle class society it explores human relationships and its nuances once there a ban put on playing football on Juhu beach.

Rasika Dugal who was present at the festival shared, "It was lovely to watch our film with an audience in New York. I felt the audience yesterday was with the film from the word go and they were in peels of laughter through much of the film. Every joke was enjoyed, every detail was noticed and overall the spirit of the film celebrated. I notice many new things in the film with every screening and it's exciting to see how every audience makes you watch your own film differently."

Director Milind Dhaimade said "Watching the way people enjoy the film is always gratifying. As the world enjoys this film, can't wait to show this to audiences in India."
