Chennai, Nov 27 (IANS) Shooting schedules of at least 35 films and over 40 television serials were disrupted resulting in losses of around Rs.100 million following heavy rains in Tamil Nadu, industry sources said Thursday.

'The losses will be about Rs.100 million. All studios here have cancelled shootings. One doesn't know when work will resume,' publicist Nikhil Murugan told IANS.

'I shudder to think as to what might happen to the release schedules of at least 35 forthcoming films,' Murugan added.

Murugan is associated with some of the biggest banners including forthcoming Rajnikant-starrer 'Enthiran' being made at a reported cost of Rs.1.2 billion.

A top source from the Tamil Film Producers' Council said that the losses could be even more.

'One doesn't know what will be the financial situation in the future. The continuing suspense in the financial world is already worrying us,' said a producer on condition of anonymity.

Units of K.T. Kujumon's 'Kadalukku Maranamillai' and Sathya Raj-starrer 'Sanghamitra' were respectively forced to return from Puducherry, other publicists added.

'Water-logging on the sets led to cancellation of the shooting of a song for a film featuring Silambarasan in a studio owned by his family,' said sources close to the star's father and actor-turned-politician T. Rajendherr.

Some of the other movies affected by inclement weather include 'Aadhinarayana' featuring Mira Jasmine and Nakul-Sunaina-starrer 'Masilamani', industry sources said.

Meanwhile, efforts were underway to clear flooded studios in Kodambakkam in the southwest suburbs here.

Schedules of over 40 ongoing television serials were also disrupted as the actors were unable to reach the shooting locations due to water-logged streets.

Heavy rains during the last five days in the state have left 51 dead, a government press release had said earlier.
