No kids below six on Zee TV's reality shows

New Delhi, Sep 25 (IANS) Zee TV has adopted self-imposed guidelines for their forthcoming reality show that involves children by not taking kids below six years.

Zee has made the guidelines mandatory for all the shows, starting with the new song and dance children reality show 'Ek Se Badhkar Ek Chhota Packet, Bada Dhamaka', which went on air Sep 20.

'We felt it is imperative to respond to social and media concerns about children appearing on television. Our guidelines would ensure that children have the best possible environment while appearing on TV and such appearance doesn't significantly compromise their growth in other areas,' Tarun Mehra, business head, Zee TV said in a press release.

Apart from not taking children below the age of six, it will have a doctor and a counsellor on the set during shooting. It's promoting a 'no smoking zone' in the areas which children have access to within the studio.

Keeping the health of the children as well as others associated with the show including the judges and guests, the channel bosses have announced that only juices and other health drinks will be served along with nutritional food.

The use of firecrackers or any explosive material is a strict no-no in the studio. In case there is an emergency on the show, there will always be an ambulance on call.
