Mumbai, Sep 10 (IANS) After the successful run of Tamil and Telugu versions of 'Jodhaa Akbar' and 'Race', UTV is entering the Southern film market with gusto.

Currently, it has a slate of five movies under-production in Tamil and Telugu.

Of them, 'Poi Solla Puram', a Tamil co-production with Four Frames, is releasing Sep 12 with 54 prints across Tamil Nadu. The movie is a Tamil re-make of 'Khosla Ka Ghosla'.

'The movies made in the South are essentially story-based. In keeping with that, we plan to make a body of movies in Tamil and Telugu, based on the best of stories. To start with, we aim to collaborate with the known talents of the Southern filmdom,' Ram Mirchandani, founder and chief operating officer of UTV Rampage Motion Pictures, told IANS Tuesday.

Also, UTV would co-produce four more Tamil movies with popular Tamil stars, including Suriya, acting in them.

Mirchandani revealed that these movies catered to the different genres. 'While 'Poi Solla Puram' is a comedy, 'Mugammoodi', being directed by Mysskin, is an action movie. Selvaraghavan is also directing another Tamil production which has his actor-brother, Dhanush, starring in it,' he said.

UTV is also expected to co-produce a trilingual in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, titled 'Lost in Chennai', which will have 'Taare Zameen Par' whiz-kid, Darsheel Safary, in the key role.

UTV's another Tamil production with superstar Vikram will mount the sets in May next year.

In Telugu, UTV has collaborated with the Andhra superstar Mahesh Babu and director Gautham Menon. UTV had earlier co-produced Mahesh Bau's 'Athithi' and 'Kannamoocho Yennada.'
