Punjabi news channel ties up with Music India to enter European market

Chandigarh, July 25 (IANS) PTC News, a Punjabi news channel, is entering the European market through a tie up with Mumbai-based entertainment channel Music India, the channel's chief said here Friday.

Music India will telecast to Europe news bulletins and current affairs shows produced by PTC News, said Rabindra Narayan, president of PTC News.

Music India is a free-to-air entertainment channel available on the sky platform, on channel number 822. Programmes produced by PTC News will be available on Music India channel for European viewers within the next 20 days.

'It is our endeavour to fulfil the long-pending demand of European Punjabis for getting the latest and most authentic news and updates from all across Punjab. Apart from the state-specific bulletins, we are also focusing on region specific news from Majha, Malwa and Doaba regions,' Narayan said.

PTC News will produce a mix of hardcore news, current affairs, business news, and everything connected to Punjab and Punjabis, stated Narayan. He added that PTC has a close network of 40 professionals feeding them every minute with the latest happenings in Punjab.

'We have chosen to be on a free-to-air platform to reach the maximum number of Punjabis residing abroad. In India, PTC News enjoys 32 per cent share in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh during prime time viewing,' said Narayan.

'In association with PTC News we will offer a complete package of latest news to all Asians in Europe. We are expecting the same patronage in the European market as PTC has in northern India,' said Prashant Chothani, director of Music India.
