Chennai, July 6 (IANS) Film director Rama Narayanan won the Tamil Film Producers' Council (TEPC) elections held here Sunday by a decisive margin.
Of the total 532 votes polled, Narayanan got 394 votes. He was contesting against producer Panchu Arunachalam, who got 138 votes.
S.A. Chandrasekar and Anbalaya Prabakaran, considered close to Narayanan, were elected as vice-presidents.
The TEPC is the most influential union in the Tamil film industry and has 1,280 members.
The polling took place Sunday morning amidst heavy police presence. The result were declared late in the evening.
