Iranian film 'Parviz' bags best film award at IFFK

Iranian film "Parviz", directed by Majid Barzegar, bagged the Golden Crow Pheasant Award for the best feature film at the 18th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) that ended here Friday.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who also holds the cinema portfolio, gave away the awards to the winners.

The best film has a cash prize of Rs.15 lakh (approximately $30,000) and is shared equally between the director and the producer of the film.

Bangladeshi director Kamaleswar Mukherjee bagged the best director award for his film "Meghe Dhaka Tara".

The Malayalam film "101 Questions", directed by Sidhartha Siva, won the best film chosen by the audience.

Organised by the state-owned Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, this year saw the biggest participation of more than 9,000 delegates, while 217 films from 64 countries were shown and 14 films from across the globe competed for the Golden Crow Pheasant Award.

Veteran Mexican film personality Arturo Ripstein was the chairman of the jury, which also included popular South Indian actress Gowthami.
