Mumbai, May 4 (IANS) Probodh Mukherjee, co-producer of hit films like 'Junglee', died of cardiac failure Saturday night. He was 88.

His funeral took place Sunday at the Santa Cruz crematorium in northwest Mumbai, said his son Vasu.

His death comes less than a month after his nephew, producer-director Shomu Mukherjee, passed away. Shomu, actress Kajol's father and Tanuja's estranged husband, died April 10.

Probodh, who breathed his last at the Nanavati Hospital here, was financial controller of the Filmalaya Studios in its heydays. The studio was founded by his eldest brother Sashadhar Mukherjee.

He had jointly produced many hits with his elder brother Subodh Mukherjee in the 1960s and seventies. The most popular among them included 'Junglee', Hema Malini-starrer 'Abhinetri' and 'Sharmeelee'.
