Bhopal, April 22 (IANS) Small screen's standup comedian Ehsaan Qureshi says that the battery of below average shows has resulted in the decline in the TRPs of comedy shows.

Qureshi, who participated in STAR's popular comedy show 'Laughter Challenge', expressed his concern over the diminishing standards of laughter shows in which, according to him, 'vulgarity has crept in.'

'When the 'Laughter Challenge' was started a few years back, there were comedians of the likes of Raju Shrivastava, Sunil Pal, Naveen Prabhakar and others. At that time, the TRP of this show was 24 percent and we also gave a tough competition to KBC, but now the TRP of this show has plummeted to 1.5 percent', Qureshi told media persons. He is in town for a show.

He also added that instead of adult and vulgar talks, input of some kind of education should be there in the jokes presented during the shows.

When asked about the film stars joining the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), Ehsaan Qureshi said it is very unfortunate that these rich people are not even bothered about the downfall of hockey, which is our national game. They are endorsing cricket, which is already on a high, he added.

Besides him, Naveen, Kuldeep Dubey, Junior Mehmood and television actress Jaya Bhattacharya were here to present a laughter show.
