Chennai, Sep 21 (IANS) Filmmaker Ayodhya Kumar is not keen to delay the release of his Telugu directorial debut "Minugurulu". He says this is the right time for smaller films to release here as big ticket films are being stalled due to the ongoing political turmoil in the state.

Ayodhya Kumar plans to release his "Minugurulu" in Andhra Pradesh Sep 27.

"The ongoing political agitation has come as a blessing for smaller Telugu films. Since not even a single big film managed to release in the last two months, every small filmmaker is trying to cash in on it by releasing their films week after week," Ayodhya Kumar told IANS.

In the last two months, over 30 low budget Telugu films managed to release in the state.

"If star films were not postponed, then we couldn't have seen the release of so many smaller films. It's best to make use of this opportunity and release as many films as possible. Even though there are options available for online exhibition of the film, theatre experience is far different," he added.

"Minugurulu", which revolves around 40 visually impaired children, has already received a thumbs up from industry bigwigs. The director is happy.

"I'm glad that my film has received good response from the industry folks. Sekhar Kammula, Chiranjeevi, Atchi Reddy and many others appreciated the film and they have been talking about it to their friends in the industry and family," he said.

"Minugurulu", which is also produced by Ayodhya Kumar, features Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Raghuvir Yadav and Ashish Vidyarthi in important roles.
