New Delhi, March 15 (IANS) Shantanu-Nikhil have maintained a class and style. Their glamorous yet sophisticated creations - a perfect fusion of East and West - have always charmed the fashion lovers and set the new standards. They continued to do so at the ongoing Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 2013 Autumn-Winter, with their collection inspired by the dunes and desserts.

For their show Thursday, the ramp was converted into a desert area and as the models walked the ramp, their outfits perfectly complemented the theme of the show.

The collection was a mix of Indian and Western garments for both men and women. Exclusive and elegant one-piece short dresses, long flowing evening gowns, decently embroidered anarkalis, saris and lehengas for women and Indo-western wear for men like sherwanis, jackets, dhotis and kurtas not only set the standard but also caught the attention of the viewers.

The accessories included mostly luxurious travel bags.

Talking about the collection, Shantanu said: "We have taken inspiration from one of the most amazing works of Tarek Al-Ghoussein that beautifully interprets the sand dunes.

"Our collection shows journey of a traveller in the desert who is waiting to reach his final destination."

The designer duo has mostly used fabrics like wool, lycra, organza, leather, textured silk, French knots and nets.

Cutwork, laser work and layering were pretty visible in almost all the outfits.

"We launched here our menswear collection. We feel Indian men have come close to being a fashionista but they don't get many opportunities. Therefore, we have created cotton jackets for men on which we have done layering by using pashmina. One can also find layering done on the kurtas and sweaters," he added.

Nikhil revealed that they have also launched a new line of luxurious bags.

"Carrying a luxurious bag with sophisticated yet simple dress was our idea for the show. Also, as our collection showed the journey of a traveller, so it perfectly suited with the theme," he said.

What about models flaunting sunglasses.

"Oh that's Mahatma Gandhi style sunglasses! It's very much in vogue. Go buy them," Shantanu said.

Apart from this, Shantanu stressed that the latest trend for the upcoming season will be pencil fitting saris for women.

"You don't have to wear a petticoat. It's a blouse and pencil fitted leggings and a silhouette draped over it. It looks awesome," he added.
