Baddy 'Yuvraj' is extremely emotional in real life

New Delhi, Dec 14 (IANS) Television actor Romit Raj, who plays baddy Yuvraj in the soap opera 'Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyaan', says his heart ached and sometimes tears rolled down his cheeks when he misbehaved with his on-screen parents.

'I am playing a negative role in reel life, but in real life I am very sentimental. Whenever we shoot a scene where I ill-treat my parents, I feel very bad from the bottom of my heart,' Romit told IANS.

'When I go back home I apologise to my parents and assure them that I can never do this to them. However, they shrug it off saying that they don't mind, as it's my job and I must not take it so seriously.

'Also, I remember I cried bitterly in the make-up room after I threw my on-screen mother out of the house in 'Betiyaan'.'

The actor is getting a lot of recognition because of his performance in the serial and says he is amazed by the response.

'I don't know why, but kids just love me! And interestingly when uncles and aunties meet me while shopping or in temples, they stop and suggest that I should reform.

'They say that I must not misbehave with my parents and family members. I have a very innocent face and such bad deeds don't match it. I am just bowled over by the popularity this family drama has given me.'

Though Romit has appeared in 'Hum Dum' and has played Nana Patekar's son in Gautam Ghosh's 'Yatra', both films turned out to be duds in the box office.

'It doesn't bother me that I didn't play the lead role in 'Yatra'. Simply because when a director like Gautam Ghosh offers you a role you don't ask him of its length,' said the actor, who has two yet-to-be titled films in his kitty.

Being a 'realist' helped him cope with failure, he said.

'After my two films went unnoticed I had no work, no bank balance and I was emotionally hollow. Of course, I want to do more films but I am a realist and know that until your film gets a good box office opening no big production house is going to sign you.

'Also, it is important to know people who can help you find a foothold in the (Hindi) film industry. And there are those like me who don't have a godfather to pave their own way.'
