Mumbai, Feb 9 (IANS) Bruce Paisner, president of the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the body behind Emmy Awards, visited India early this month and met television broadcast CEOs, producers and actors to get to know the nitty-grity of the Indian TV industry during his four-day trip.

Paisner was here Feb 5-8 and was hosted by Anil Wanvari, indiantelevision.com founder and International Academy Board member.

He was in India on a private visit, but also wanted to get the feel of Indian television industry to raise awareness, explore partnerships and increase participation to The International Emmys.

Indiantelevision.com has been associated with The International Emmys for the past eight years now and has annually hosted semifinal judging rounds in India for the past six years with an all Indian jury.

'So far the industry has been very responsive by judging the semi final round of the international rounds over the past six years through indiantelevision.com. We are hopeful that participation from India's talented TV community will go up now with Paisner's visit, as has been happening with other Asian countries recently,' Wanvari said in a statement.

The International Emmy Awards have a total of 15 program categories and entries are welcome from anywhere in the world (excluding the US). After a judging process, four nominees per category are selected from all the entries.
