Malayalam actor Ravi Menon passes away

Kozhikode, Nov 24 (IANS) Noted Malayalam film Actor Ravi Menon passed away early morning Saturday.

The 57-year-old actor spent his last moments at a private hospital in Perinthalmanna near here, where he was admitted Friday. he had been suffering from cancer for more than a year.

Born in 1950 at Sreekrishnapuram in Karala's Pallakad district, Menon made his acting debut in 'Nirmalyam' (1973), a national award winning film by the renowned Malayalam Novelist M.T. Vasudevan Nair. He also won a state award for his role in this film.

A diploma holder in acting from Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, Menon had acted in more than 50 Malayalam films including 'Shalini Ente Koottukari', 'Naduvazhikal', 'Shyama' and 'Manthrikam', besides television serials. His sole appearance in Hindi films was in 'Duvidha' (1973), directed by Mani Kaul.
