New Delhi, Sep 14 (IANS) They may be big names in the Bollywood music industry, but music director duo Vishal-Shekhar did not shy away from asking music maestro A.R. Rahman for his autograph.

They met Rahman on the sets of Zee TV's 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar' -- the music maestro came with actor John Abraham to promote their upcoming project 'Jhootha Hi Sahi'.

Vishal was especially enthusiastic about his first meeting with the Oscar winner and urged Rahman for an autograph, said a source from the sets.

On meeting Rahman, Vishal said: 'Each decade in the Indian music industry has an identity - the melodious 60s, the swinging 70s, disco of the 80s and the 90s was a one man show - A.R. Rahman who pioneered a distinct phase in Indian film music combining western influences with Indian sounds, ranging from classical instruments to folk music.'

Vishal even asked Rahman to sing the latter's version of 'Vande Mataram'. But Rahman couldn't fulfill his wish.

'I will not be able to do justice to our national song today because it needs to be sung in a high pitch, and it will be difficult for me to summon that amount of energy on an empty stomach. It's the holy month of Ramzaan and I am fasting,' Rahman said on the day of the shoot, Sep 7.

The special episode of the music reality show will be on air Friday.

Kruttika Desai feels odd playing mother

Actress Kruttika Desai, who was often seen playing glamorous roles on the small screen, says she was not comfortable playing the role of a mother.

'When you play the role of a mother, it does take some getting used to. Initially I did feel very odd. Imagine playing the mother to someone who is not very far from your own age! Now however, I have gotten used to doing such roles,' said Kruttika, who will soon be seen on Zee TV' new show 'Preet Se Bandhi Ye Dori Ram Milaayi Jodi'.

The actress became popular with shows like 'Buniyaad' and 'Chandrakanta' in the late 1980s. In recent shows like 'Ye Meri Life Hai' and 'Do Saheliyan', she has played a mother.

Kruttika says she feels lucky that she is playing a mother on screen after so many years of being in the industry.

'These days I see young girls who are playing the roles of mothers and grandmothers barely two years after beginning their careers. Thankfully, I had a chance of at least portraying someone of my own age for quite a while before I was offered such a role,' she added.

Chandigarh crowd disrupts 'Maryada' shooting

The shooting of Deeya and Tony Singh's upcoming show 'Maryada' in Chandigarh was disrupted when the crowd kept hounding the cast and crew.

'The crowd was too much to handle. We have been shooting on locations like roads, Rock garden, Chandigarh railway station and the crowd has been going mad,' a source from the sets told IANS.

The show will be aired on Star Plus. It will feature model-actor Rakesh Bapat, among others.
