Ramoji Film City bags Golden pony award

Hyderabad, Nov 22 (IANS) Ramoji Film City, world's largest film studio-cum-holiday destinations, has bagged the prestigious Golden pony award, considered an Oscar equal in the leisure industry.

The award instituted by Games and Parks Industry magazine of Italy is given to the people and enterprises for their innovation and excellence in the leisure industry and Ramoji Film City has won the award beating some of the best theme parks in the world, said a statement issued by the film city here Thursday.

Ramoji Film City is the only Asian enterprise to win an award in any category this year.

'The film city which defines the very spirit of fun, entertainment and relaxation with its magic, allure and grandeur, added a new feather in its cap,' the statement said.

Rajeev Jalnapurkar, vice-president, Ramoji Film City, received the award of excellence in Genova, Italy recently.

'The award further elevates our position of being the best tourist destination not just in India but in entire Asia. This is the recognition for our commitment to provide the best and unforgettable experience to the guests,' the statement quoted him as saying.

Ramoji Film City, which made its way to the Guinness Book of World Records for being the largest film studio in the world, is known to be a destination with a difference.

Spread over 1,666 acres with extraordinary gardens, authentic sets and lavish locales, the film city provides a never before experience to its guests.

The film city, which is an enchanting blend of man-made wonders and nature's pristine beauty, attracts a million tourists every year.

Filmmakers, including those from Hollywod, turn to Ramoji Film City.
