Two concerts to mark Madan Mohan's 86th birth anniversary

Mumbai, June 9 (IANS) Aficionados of Madan Mohan's music are in for a treat, as two concerts will be held here to commemorate the 86th birth anniversary of the legendary Bollywood composer June 25.

The two events - 'Tere Liye... An Emotional Saga' and 'Madan Mohan Unplugged' will have a 25- and 26-member orchestra respectively with singers who will croon soulful renditions of the Madan Mohan's unforgettable songs like 'Tum jo mil gaye ho', 'Mera saaya saath hoga', 'Aap ki nazron ne samjha', 'Dil dhundta' and 'Lag jaa gale', among others.

While the former concert is being organised by KM Associates at the Yshwantrao Sabhagraha in Matunga, the latter is being held at Ravindra Natya Mandir, Prabhadevi by Soham Pratishthan and Anubodh.

Both orchestra's will feature acoustic instruments like the grand piano, violins, cellos, accordion, flute and sitar, to reproduce the golden era.

Madan Mohan passed away at the age of 51 July 14, 1975. In his composing career of 25 years, he created music for over 100 films. These included 'Aashiana', 'Adalat', 'Anpadh', 'Mera Saaya', 'Woh Kaun Thi', 'Heer Ranjha' and 'Mausam'. His compositions were also used in Yash Chopra's 'Veer-Zaara'.
