Badhaai Ho revolves around a middle class family where Jitendra a Railway TT (
Gajraj Rao) lives along with his wife (Neena Gupta) and two children.News breaks out that his wife is pregnant which comes like a shock to the entire family. To the top of it they also have to deal with social embarrassment - friends, relatives, neighbors, everyone's gaze is now turned towards the Kaushik household.
In the first half everything seems to be normal until the pregnancy news breaks out and Nakul(
Ayushmann Khurrana) the elder son wasn't really looking forward to this new addition to the family. First half is quite hilarious where
Gajraj Rao,
Ayushmann Khurrana and veteran actress
Surekha Sikri make the audience laugh with their impressive performance.
The film is very well written by Akshat Ghildial and Shantanu Shrivastava. Both of them have succeeded to connect with the audiences through the amazing dialogues they have written.
Post first half, as the film further unfolds, Renne (
Sanya Malhotra) the lady love of Nakul makes him realize his mistake. As Renne belongs to upper class family she is unbounded with the societal stereotypes. Then we see a change in Nakul's character and he comes out in support of his parents. Then the film elaborates pure family love and real meaning of being a family. Second half is also humorous but this part of the film is amazing as it raises a lot of social issues.
The film elaborates that romance after 40 should not be considered taboo
Neena Gupta,
Sanya Malhotra and
Sheeba Chadha have given justice to their roles with their amazing performances. Nakul's younger brother Gular (Shardul Rana) also stands out as best performer.
With brilliant acting performances by the whole cast including the supporting characters, best direction, amazingly written story and dialogues film '
Badhaai Ho' will not only make you laugh but will also deliver a great message breaking all the societal stereotypes.
The film is a must watch and a Family Movie to look forward to.
