Raman Raghav:Brilliant work backed by terrific execution(Movie Review)

When good art meets brilliant performers, a classic piece of work called Raman Raghav is born!

Well, to begin with I would say Anurag Kashyap is back... Only he could have helmed this psychological thriller with such an ease. His essence of glorifying dark cinema is surely going to gain him loud applauds this time.

Let's not waste much time and give you a quick glimpse of what the movie is all about!

For those who were thinking that Raman Raghav 2.0 is based on the life of serial killer Raman Raghav who operated in Mumbai during the mid-1960s, are wrong. This film isn't based on his life but few portions and incidents are inspired from the real life killings that he did. The story is divided in chapters which make it easier to understand. Each chapter tells a different story that keeps the audience intrigued in the story. All throughout you will look forward to see what's in store as by the end of every scene comes a new twist.

About the characters:

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is one fine actor that Bollywood has been blessed with! The way he portrayed his character is worth commendable. The characteristics of his character Ramana were running in his blood. Without any doubt, he is walking away with Best Villian Trophy this award season.

Vicky Kaushal is seen playing the role of a cop named Raghav in the film. Acting wise he has surely improved but his execution has somewhere failed in front of Nawazuddin's performance. Knowingly or unknowingly the viewer tends to compare both the actors and that's where Vicky has failed to live up to the expectations.

What we didn't liked:

Though the movie is brilliantly written and executed, there are minor loopholes that could have been rectified to make it a flawless piece of work.

Incomplete scenes:

As I told you earlier that the movie is divided in parts, there are few portions amidst these parts that are left incomplete which leaves the audience thinking 'what exactly happened after this'. But, the curiosity of the viewer isn't fulfilled as the movie advances to other story.

For example: There is a scene in the film where Vicky's character goes to meet his father (played by Vipin Sharma) at his home. Here, we get intrigued in the story as it gives us a hint of an unusual father-and-son relationship. Before we could connect to it, the film turns back to square one i.e. the bloodshed and killings.

Vicky Kaushal's character Raghav written poorly:

Vicky Kaushal's character was completely confused. Though the actor tried his best to match up to Nawazuddin's level, his efforts went in vain as his character wasn't polished to that extent. In the entire film, his emotions and feelings are confusing as if he himself isn't aware as to what he has to do. For the brilliant writing that Anurag is applauded for, he could have given a more attention to this portion.

Overall:

This monsoon if you wish to drench in stories of gruesome killings, then Raman Raghav is a must watch. But, remember to keep your kids and young adults AWAY at home as this is strictly an 'ADULT' film and we by no means wish to scare our little ones with gross bloodshed!
