Airlift : A beautiful salute to India's unsung heroes!

India has always loved films with a patriotic ring to them. Whenever we see the Indian flag on the big screen along with synth music, the patriot inside every Indian rises! There have been a lot of films based on true stories but Airlift is based on a story that will take you on an emotional journey.

The film based in Kuwait, did a very good job of capturing the Kuwaiti culture. Kuwait has a high number of Indian citizens because of the job opportunities and quick money. The film has gracefully captured the harsh conditions Indian labourers live in.

Talking about the story-line, I believe the makers may have added a little bit of spice to the actual story to make it 'celluloid-presentable'. But it is good to see how the makers have added small elements of comedy and cute little love tales to the story. The film also mocks the slow functioning Indian Government! It shows how a 'Babu' does most of the work and how a minister takes all the credit for it!

Salute to the directors of Airlift, who have captured each element in the film beautifully. Everything from the conversations, the Iraqi invasion, the sequence when 1 Lac 70 thousand Indians migrate in a convoy through the desert. All of these sequences are mind blowing.

When a film has a lot of characters, it becomes very difficult for the audience to keep track of their individual traits. But this film has taken a lot of key characters and has balanced their onscreen presence and their importance in the storyline with ease!

As for Akshay Kumar, he has done it again! The way he portrays the character of Ranjit Katyal is mesmerising! There is no other actor in Bollywood who could pull off this role without making the film look like a mainstream commercial film. Akshay Kumar is constantly growing with every film.

Coming to Nimrat Kaur, she has an equally powerful role in the film. Nimrat has performed exceptionally well in this film. Other characters such as Mr.George, Mr. Poonawala and Purab Kohli's character bring life to the film.

The songs in Airlift have been captured very well and they blend in the film perfectly. The background tracks in the film constantly change and so does the feel of the film.

The visual effects of the film didn't match up to the quality expected of it in a film. The VFX failed to blend in the film and looked very unreal. If the makers would have paid more attention to these details, the entire film would have been a complete package.

Airlift is a story that will make you laugh and cry. The film is exactly what Bollywood needed for its 'resurrection' after all the poor-content films that hit the silver screens of late. This film will tell you a story every Indian should know!

Trust me, you don't wanna miss out on this one!
