Movie Review : Mary Kom

MC Mary Kom, a legendry sports person, a biopic on her would be amazing, isn't it? A movie that came up with such an amazing trailer, one expects leaps and bounds to come out of the movie, but would be left disheartened. Omung kumar's Mary Kom is good effort but doesn't do much justice to the legend herself. Some incidents shown in the movie are heartwarming, but overall is an average show.

Mary Kom is a biopic of MC Mary Kom. The movie begins in earnest by showing an incident that builds her interest in boxing. How she trains hard and becomes the world champion is what forms the rest of the story.

Priyanka Chopra undoubtedly does a terrific job. Her body language, accent and that connect with the essence of the Northeast India is truly worth applauding. She fights like a bruised tigress and there is no looking back for her. The passion she has for boxing is so well justified in her acting that one doesn't think that it's Priyanka Chopra on screen.

Darshan Kumar, who essays the character of Onler, Mary Kom's husband, does a satisfactory job, but fails to connect with the audience. Other characters like the coach and her parents don't make much of an impact.

Music is a little forced, and in immediate succession, thus making it a little too much or the audience to consume. Editing is clumsy and hence the scenes seemed to be thrown in, in some haphazard manner. Screenplay goes or a toss, eventually. Omung Kumar seems to have wanted to do too much in his debut film, which lands him in never land. The last 20 minutes of the film is very engaging and the best part of the entire journey.

Overall the general audience would like the movie or it's a real lie story o a living person. Priyanka is worth watching in the film and the climax or sure. Mary Kom is a true inspiration and every woman should make all her weaknesses her strengths and fight back.
