Like-mindedness keeps Advaita together

New Delhi, Mar 2 (IANS) Bringing eight creative minds agree to same thing can be a task for some, but members of indie pop music band Advaita has been creating soulful tunes and how! It is their similar thoughts and respect towards each other that keeps them in sync.

The band, which consists of Abhishek Mathur, Aman Singh, Anindo Bose, Chayan Adhikari, Gaurav Chintamani, Mohit Lal, Suhail Yusuf Khan and Ujwal Nagar, has composed popular tracks like "Rasiya", "Ghir ghir", "Suspended" and "Miliha" in the past.

"It's difficult to manage a huge band like Advaita, but we are fortunate enough that all of us are like-minded people, and everybody has put the band as the main priority," Nagar, the band's Hindustani classical vocalist, told IANS.

"With eight people from so many different backgrounds, there are bound to be creative differences. But the mutual respect in all of us towards everybody leads to peaceful resolution," he added.

The band came together in 2004 and has since, composed albums like "Grounded in Space" and "The Silent Sea".

After performing at the Storm Music Festival in Coorg recently, the band is excited to perform at the Vriddhi: Evolution Music Festival with renowned Carnatic music singer Sudha Raghuraman here Saturday.

"We are excited about the collaboration with Sudha ji. We will be performing on some Carnatic compositions and she will also be joining us on couple of our popular tracks, giving them very refreshing sound. I am sure it will be exciting," Nagar said.

The evening will also see tabla maestro Vishal duet with jazz pianist Terry McCaw.
