15th Mumbai Film Festival ends on a high note

15th Mumbai Film Festival organized by Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI) and presented by Reliance Entertainment saw the grand conclusion of the 3rdMumbai Film Mart.

 

The three day Mumbai Film Mart that commenced on the 18th of October and concluded on 20th October 2013, witnessed a record number of meetings and larger participation from Entertainment industry professionals in India and abroad.

The MFM saw participation from the top Indian film studios such as Reliance Entertainment, Eros International, Viacom18 Motion Pictures, Yash Raj Films, Sikhya Entertainment and UTV motion pictures amongst many others. Additionally the 2013 edition of the MFM saw leading global entertainment buyers and exhibitors such as Nikkatsu, Toho Co Ltd, Rapid Eye, Novo Films, Vox Cinemas, Encore Films, Happiness Distribution, Berserk Media amongst others participate and closely look at acquisitions of Indian films.  Support from industry bodies such as NFDC, IFT, MPAA, CII, Film& Television Producers Guild of India further boosted the Mart's fast gaining standing as being one of the crucial film markets in the country.

Mr. Srinivasan Narayanan, Festival Director, Mumbai Film Festival said, " I am very happy that Mumbai Film Mart has grown bigger and has received such a great response from across the globe. "

The Spanish Co-Production focus saw leading Indian producers and the Spanish delegation interact and discuss projects for co-production.

The 2013 edition of the MFM also marked strategic partnership discussions with the prestigious Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART), the largest film market in the Asian region, to promote mutual interests in the non-traditional markets. 

Promoting the idea of Knowledge sharing, The MFM Consultant initiative had leading producers, consultants and investors such as Guneet Monga, Shaan Vyas, Nandini Mansinghka among others discuss at length, ideas and strategies with Independent filmmakers and Mart attendees.

The 'Books2Screen' initiative saw power packed Round-Table discussions among filmmakers with projects that can or have been adapted from stories and books ranging from folktales to thrillers.

The important new initiatives such 'Filmy Room' and 'India Project Room' had a record number of brand new and work-in-progress Indian films becoming accessible to leading buyers, Festival Directors and film programmers for their considerations.

Also present during the course of the 3 day MFM were Actor-Director Nandita Das, Producer Mukesh Bhatt, Director JahnuBarua, Producer Guneet Monga, Director Vasan Bala and representatives from various Consulates and Film organisations like UniFrance, UniJapan and German Films.
