Madhur Bhandarkar ia s National Award-winning Indian film director, script writer, and producer. He is best known for his films such as Chandni Bar (2001), Page 3 (2005), Traffic Signal (2007), and Fashion (2008).

Biography:

Madhur Bhandarkar is a school dropout. His father was an electric contractor but when he was about twelve years old, business suffered heavy losses as a result little Madhur had to study and work as well. Madhur Bhandarkar has come a long way from being an errand boy at a video cassette library to becoming one of the most sought after Directors in Bollywood.

Madhur started working as an assistant director to Ram Gopal Varma in his early days. He even played a small role in his 1995 film Rangeela.

A couple of years later he made his directorial debut with Trishakti which took more than two years to make and released in 1999. The film had a relatively low key cast and was largely ignored at the box office.

After two years he directed Chandni Bar (2001) starring Tabu and Atul Kulkarni. The film was a critically acclaimed success, which took Bhandarkar into the top league of filmmakers in Bollywood.

He wrote the dialogues and story of Satta (2003) which didn’t really did well at the box office but the film was critically acclaimed. In 2005 he did Page 3 which revealed the true side of media, made roars in the B town.

He wrote the screenplay and story of Corporate (2006), Traffic Signal (2007) both the films did well at the box office. His film Fashion (2008) based on Fashion industry was praised by one and all.

In 2011 Madhur for the first time tried his luck in Comedy film Dil Toh Baccha Hai ji. It did an average business at the box office.

In 2012 Madhur started shooting for Heroine with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as the lead but the film got shelved because of Aishwarys’s unexpected pregnancy.

Personal Life:

Madhur married his girlfriend Renu Namboodiri-Bhandarkar on 15 December 2003 in Mumbai. They now have a daughter named Siddhi.

Controversies:

Madhur was in controversy in July 2004 with Preeti Jain who allegedly accused for casting couch and was filed for a big case when Preeti Jain went to court.

She stated she slept with him from 1999 to 2004 as he promised her a role in a movie and marriage. On September 2005, Jain was arrested as she gave Rs. 70,000 to underworld elements to have him killed.

After the investigation in 2006 it was found out that the complaint filed against Madhur is false.
