Biography:
Kajol was born to actress Tanuja and Shomu Mukherjee in Mumbai.
Kajol is a fourth-generation actress: her mother Tanuja, maternal aunt Nutan, maternal grandmother Shobhna Samarth and maternal great grandmother Rattan Bai were all movie stars in their day.
Kajol is the cousin of Rani Mukherjee, Sharbani Mukherji, Raj Mukherjee and Mohnish Bahl.
She is known for her strong acting performance on screen. Kajol is often paired on-screen with actor Shah Rukh Khan. In fact, each of her five movies with him (Baazigar, Karan Arjun, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and Kabhi Khushie Kabhi Gham) have all gone on to become super-hits and blockbusters.
After doing Karan Johar's Kabhi Khushi..Kabhi Gham(2001) she took a backseat from acting. She decided to spend some time with family. In 2006 she made a ravishing comeback after delivering hits like Fanaa opposite Aamir Khan.
In 2007 she starred in U, Me Aur Hum which was directed by Ajay Devgn himself. The film did an average business at the box office.
In 2009 she did My Name Is Khan with Shah Rukh Khan directed by Karan Johar. Te film did a great business at the box office. In 2010 she was seen in We Are Family with Arjun Rampal and Kareena Kapoor. Unfortunately, it didn't work at the box office.
Personal Details:
Kajol married Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan on February 24, 1999. The couple have two children, a daughter named Nysa (born in 2003) and a son named Yug (born in 2010).
On April 10, 2008, Kajol's father died after suffering from a cardiac arrest. His funeral was held the same day and was attended by other Bollywood personalities.
