About Ismail Darbar

 Ismail Darbar is a composer of music for Indian films also known as an Indian film music director.

He is from Surat, Gujarat. Ismail Darbar worked for several years as a session violinist for leading music directors Laxmikant Pyarelal, Kalyanji Anandji, Bappi Lahiri, Rajesh Roshan, Anand-Milind, Nadeem-Shravan, Jatin-Lalit and even A.R.Rahman. Finally he got the break after so many years with the film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. He played violin for Jatin-Lalit in the movie Khamoshi: The Musical.

Ismail Darbar was one of the four judges on Zee TV's Indian musical program Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005. The other judges were Jatin-Lalit, Aadesh Shrivastava and Himesh Reshamiyya.

He was one of the four judges on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005 and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007.

He refused to judge for Sa Re Ga Ma Pa because of his patriotism for India. He does not support Pakistani singers coming to sing in India when Indian singers are jobless. Because no one informed him that the Pakistani singers are only being given chances in India on the basis of their immense talent and individual singing style.

He got National award for the music of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in 1999.
