Biography:
She was born in a South Indian family. Her father, Krishnaraj, was a marine biologist, while her mother, Brindya, is a housewife. She has one elder brother, Aditya Rai, who is an engineer in the merchant navy. He co-produced one of her movies, Dil Ka Rishta (2003).
She did her schooling from Arya Vidya Mandir High school and did her college from jai Hind College.
She is a trained classical dancer. Aishwarya started modeling at a young age. This green-blue-eyed beauty appeared in advertisements for many prestigious firms; the ones that brought her into the limelight were the garden sari and the Pepsi add Crowned Miss India 1994 runner-up, she was a hot favorite in the run for miss world title, which she won, her beauty and charm made her India's darling. Ash stormed into the Indian movie industry, where she has proven herself a brilliant & genuine actress. She made her acting debut from Tamil film Iruvar(1997) opposite Mohanlal. She made her acting debut in Bollywood with Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya which was unsuccessful at the box office.
In 1999 she starred in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam opposite Salman Khan where her acting was praised by the critics.
Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was the turning point in her career later she was seen in Mohabattein (2000) which was also a hit at the box office.
Aishwarya Rai star continued to rise in 2002 working again with Sajay Leela Bhansali in 'Devdas'. 'Devdas' is the most ambitious and most successful film in Bollywood history. It became the first Bollywood picture to ever receive a special screening at this year's Cannes Film Festival and broke box-office records in India and the United States.
Ash became the first Indian actor to be a member of the jury at the Cannes Film Festival in 2003. She is also the latest member of the elite L'Oreal Dream Team, joining beauties Catherine Deneuve & Andie MacDowell as their international ambassador.
2004 saw Aishwarya take on the leading role in her first English language film for Gurinder Chadha in "Bride & Prejudice". She also became the first Indian female to be immortalized in wax at the world famous Madame Tussaud's wax museum in London. In 2006 she did JP Dutta's Umraoo Jaan which didn't do well at the box office. In 2007 she did Mani Ratnam's Guru opposite Abhishek bachchan which made great collection at the box office. In 2008 she did Jhodha Akbar with Hrithik Roshan which was again a hit film. She was last seen 2010 in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Guzaarish opposite Hrithik Roshan.
She was supposed to do Madhur bhandarkar's Heroine, she even started shooting for the film but the film had been shelved because of her unexpected pregnancy.
Personal Life:
In 1999 Aishwarya started dating Bollywood actor Salman Khan their relationship was often reported in the media until the couple separated in 2001. After her break up with Salman she started dating Vivek Oberoi which didn't last too long.
Aishwarya Rai then got married to actor Abhishek Bachchan. They met in 1997. Their engagement was announced on 14 January 2007 and later confirmed by his father, Amitabh Bachchan. The couple married on 20 April 2007 according to traditional Hindu rites of the Bunt community, to which she belongs.
It was revealed on 21 June 2011 by her father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan, through his blog, that she is pregnant. It has since been revealed that the baby is due in November 2011.

Subtle, elegant and comfort is the style statement for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Even though she doesn't experiment much, she enjoys fashion. Fashion is an attitude for her which she carries off with lan. Her appearance in Cannes is the most talked about where she is seen in all diverse outfits each year.
